He settled in Galesburg, IL. In 1859 he went West, visited Pike's Peak and then remained in Colorado for a year, after which he is said to have been a member of a group of explorers who the first to navigate the Rio Grande River from its source to EI Paso, TX. In 1861 he enlisted in the Forly-third Illinois Volunteer Regiment for service in the Civil War until Sept. 1864, when he settled in Lynn Township in Henry County, IL. On 26 Sept. 1889 he moved to Moline, IL with his wife, Kerstin Eriksdotter, whom he had married in 1865. | Family: F5946
