Main Feature
This photo was taken August 1951. The line score was 13 - 13 after 10 innings. Virgel Neis is 4th from left at back. Henry Neis is kneeling front right.
In 1937, Virgel Neis was 28 years old. He was a great baseball pitcher just in his prime. He was pitching a game in Edmonton at which John Ducey
was the umpire. John refused to give Virgel a decent baseball so "Bernie", as he was known, threw the ball completely out of the ball
park -- John called "Ball one!" and he threw Virgel out of the game!
Note to visitors: I started this site in 2005. I hope it is useful to everyone. It is still a work in progress as of January 2010. - V. Neis
